Project Description
Lapis is developing a 14,000-acre carbon storage site located in St Charles Parish, Louisiana, approximately 20 miles west of New Orleans. Initial volumes have been committed to support the development of the site, with first injection scheduled for 2027. Lapis estimates that the site has the potential to hold up to 80 million metric tons of CO₂, and, because of its close proximity to industrial hubs, has the potential to become a regional hub decarbonization site. This project helps Louisiana to grow its economy while maintaining its competitiveness in a global market that is demanding lower carbon products.
